Join us on the WLG MasterChat on Thursday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m., to hear the journey of Ashwini Kantak, Assistant City Manager of the City of Milpitas. Ashwini will share her story of how she got from Mumbai to Milpitas and her career journey from architecture to local government.  Ashwini will talk about balancing a demanding career with being a mom and an only child of aging parents and the importance of mentoring others grappling with similar competing priorities. On the professional front, although Ashwini’s education was first in architecture and then in public policy and administration, she loves the fact that her career journey has allowed her to build her knowledge and skills to cover a wide range of things including utilities, housing, economic development, public safety, finance, information technology, and human resources. Ashwini enjoys the challenges and variety of her job, and especially appreciates the direct positive impact she and her staff get to have on the lives of the current and future residents of Milpitas.

WLG MasterChats are a safe, comfortable space where WLG members can learn new skills, share experiences, or get advice while connecting with other female local government leaders. These short calls are held on the first and third Thursdays of every month at 1:00 p.m. and last only 30 minutes. The calls cover a variety of topics including leadership lessons, project management, problem solving, self-care, balance, and other topics specific to women in a small group setting. These calls are informal, comfortable sessions that provide an opportunity for all attendees to speak (or just listen!) and ask other women in local government their questions.
